dsdoyle
Hello, We had a bonded pair of clowns but the male (smallest one) died. The surviving one is about 2.5" if that. I would like to get your opinion of if "she" would bond with another if it is smaller than her or if I could get a new pair and leave her there. Please advise. Thanks, Don
MrsBugmaster
Quote I have lost a clowns mate on a couple occasion over the years. Every time when I added a smaller clown they bonded right away. So no problem adding another single clown as long as it is smaller.
ryansweet
Watch for aggression from the dominant female. Most of the time it will work fine, but I have a female that has killed 3 new clowns that I added after her original mate died. I finally had to put the dominant female in an acclimation box for a week in order to get her let the newest addition be added to the tank. After I released her from the box she was slightly aggressive but has bonded since.
waldend
Previous comment is correct. Unless you have a massive tank adding another pair is not a good idea. They would likely fight and you would end up having only 2.
3FordFamily
I agree a new pair isn’t wise. Add a smaller clown and they should bond
