  9. As long as your tank isnt over 24in deep it would be plenty.
  10. Keeping tabs on the alk and calcium is a must for sps but as for coraline algae really what is all the hubub about .I really doent want it but do have it.Doesnt eat much nitrate or phosphate.Eats up your calcium and alkalinity basicly there for the corals to use.Gets all over your pumps glass floats ect.I guess it is a good indicator of what your tank is doing and does look pretty but really doesnt help the health of your reef.

  15. Ok for the past couple of weeks ive tryed to get a good calcium reading on one of my tanks . I took a reading and it never turned color so i had to use the low acuracy way t0 get it to change to blue according to the chart my ca is 550(lol ive never had a tank with that much ca). That was like 2 weeks ago and since ive started my kalk reactor top off to reduce some phosphates well my test today said the ca was 660 somethings gotta be wrong .Ive read the directions like 5 times even though i was already fimaler with the test kit . What u think bad kit or what?
  16. I never really liked the look of a tall canopy with a shorter tank. I think when i do get around to building my canopy im going to make the lights portrude from the top of the canopy a little so there is some height adjustment abd help with the mh heat issues .The canopy height can at least look shorter. Just my 2 cents
  17. I got out of the hobbie like 6 years ago due to swinging tank parameters and a divorce. She got the new system ( 2 54 corner tanks setup as a half circle)in the settlement.Well bad for her good for me she never setup the tanks and needed some extra cash so i bought my tanks again.Ive always been intrigued about ats systems but alittle Leary. The fact that inlands water always looked so yellow was a turnoff to the method of filtration. With my new tank repurchase and a little research i decided to give it a try. Algaescrubber.net has been a god sent when it comes to any questions or help you might need on the subject of scrubbers.Santa Monica is the owner of the site and has personally answered all the questions that i had that the forums didnt cover. My scrubber was based alot on the one he sells with a little twist. I scrub 2 systems independently with 1 scrubber. 1 side has been up and running a week on my soon to be sps zoa tank . The other one was fired up today.did have alittle trouble keeping the systems completely separate one would flow to the other . Got it worked out now. Will post picks and progress if there seems to be any interest on the subject . Later Ken
  18. Thanks Dogum but i visited premium before i saw your post .Would have nice to save a few bucks ohh well
  19. Wow i need alittle help here.Im getting back into the scene after a 6 year break from the lifestyle err hobbie.Heres where i need help.Tomarrow in going to get a great deal on alot of live rock and aragonite sand. Its been alittle mistreated for what i can tell so i guess im going to have to cycle it.Right now i have most of my equipment except nothing i mean nothing is setup. No water or salt nada. Can this be done and whats the minimum setup for recuring liverock.I thought id goto puritan to get my ro water for my ro setup im sure is in need of atleast a new membrane. As for lights ive got a 250watt mh setup or a 96 watt pc (bulbs are prolly shot though but they still work). My main tanks are 2 54gal corner setup on a stand to resemble a 108 half circle. At least their reef ready.Thought id eventually run 1 on ats and the other with a refuge and skimmer.Time to break back out the old euroreef.Kalkwasser drip ie auto topoff via perastaltic pump using a diy stirrer.I sold my refractometer so i guess i will be using a hygrometer. As for a return pump ive got a panworld but do i really need that kind of flow to cure the rock.Hmm guess i will since its the only pump i have and prolly should use my skimmer while its cycling.Sorry for the short story but gotta cover alot of ground quickly any input is greatly appriacated (kinda rusty since its been 6 years) Thanks Ken
