Arrow crab up for grabs.

EDIT: It seems that I was not clear in my original post that this crab is FREE. I want nothing in return, I just need to get him out of my tank and would prefer not to kill him.

Original post:

We have a well-established marine tank that has been running without issue/disease/parasites etc for 4 years with nothing other than an unsightly hair algae problem. We ordered a cleaning crew package online that included a ton of hermits, a Sally Lightfoot and an Arrow crab (yes, we should have researched that a little more thoroughly than we did). Turns out that the arrow crab thinks that Hermit crabs are delicious and likes to march around ripping them in half and brandishing their broken bodies at us through the front of the tank. We currently have him segregated and would love to find him a good home. He is extremey cool looking and quite large. We'd like to get him gone as soon as possible because we don't think our home-made jail is going to be a healthy place for him to live for very long.

I'm sorry, but that made me LOL. Hope you find him a good home.

Where exactly do you have him? Can you put him in a sump?

We don't have a sump. My husband got a large disposable ziplock container (large like maybe 6 inches deep, 6 inches wide and 10 inches across) and dremelled about 1000 pencil diameter holes in the side of it. He is floating around our main tank sealed in that and being fed an occasional dried shrimp.

Ohhh--somebody set the arrow crab free.

If you don't find any takers soon, you could probably take him to a LFS.

Like The Reef or somewhere? I drove by the Abyss the other day and it was by appointment only, no store hours. Bummer, I used to love seeing what Paul had.

The Reef, or Premium is open tomorrow from 12-3.

No store hours at The Abyss anymore? That's too bad. It used to be the best place to buy fish.
