On the return side i always have the baffle up off the bottom so the water coming in to the return enters under the baffle instead of entering over the top of the baffle.

they make a epoxy called jb weld for plastic, good stuff and sets up fast, it is a two part epoxy have used it many times good stuff, any walmart or automotive store carries it.
