Dustin1300
Looks like a stress fracture, likely placed by that pipe on left. Is the union glued on the right or are you lucky enough to have it threaded on?
loki
No it is glued let me see if I can get a begetter pic Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

jesterisdead
perhaps a high grade plastic adhesive inject down into that gap and then do the same thing on the outside of the split back the junction off the threads on so doesn't glue to your pipe and give it time to dry then coat it again. Dustin1300
Ouch...Bit of a poor design but you've got what you've got. Is the fitting cast into the acrylic that it's glued to?
loki
Yes Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Dustin1300
Not sure of a great fix then. The right fix would probably involve boring out the previous hole in acrylic and using weld-on to put new piece in, possibly use large diameter fitting to what hole you cut out. Easier and still risky fix...Take some weld-on 16 and put on the cap that's cracked to hold it together. I'd unscrew it so it's lose while gluing and make sure to not put too much on that'll make it stick to the other plumbing.

loki
Ok my new ? How much 2 part randy's recipe will it take to matian 440 ca an 8.0 alk on a 300 water volume
Dustin1300
Lol.. Have a better idea Leo?!
invert
From what I've been using of Randy's 2 part recipe looks to be 1ml per gallon +/-15ml. But I imagine those numbers are different depending how tanks are stocked. from the looks of the first pic, it looks like you have enough stem behind the union where you could use a wire PVC cutter to cut right at the base of the union, then glue a PVC extender to that, and then you could glue a threaded adapter to the extender. OR go Dustin's riskier route.
loki
Thinking of just glueing it all together Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
jesterisdead
Good luck with the fix which ever way you go. I'm sure it will come out ok...
loki
Well good news I took my time and ground it of thanks to a dremel and a steady hand going to get some weld on 40 and glue it back together we ll see if it works wish me luck
loki
a half inch pipe will fit but what kind of better design could I put on it I meed ideas people
loki
Anybody have some extra weld on 40 or would #16 work so I can fix my ca reactor Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Dustin1300
Does it fit snugly? Weld on #40 sticks to PVC and acrylic, but I would not trust the 16 for the job. Likely won't come by 40 on here because 3, 4, and 16 are used in 99% of our projects....40 is nasty stuff and hope you have a WELL ventilated area when you mix the two part epoxy. loki
Yes it does but all of the old plumbing is not standard size I just tried a 1/2 inch union and it did not fit the other side of the union Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Dustin1300
I'd suggest taking this time to do it right. Glue an adapter to make it threaded so you're not in this predicament three years down the road when union screws up?
dwsindy
Yes it does but all of the old plumbing is not standard size I just tried a 1/2 inch union and it did not fit the other side of the union I think they use metric fittings for that. You might try Harrington Plastics on the east side. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
