ReefNewby82 Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 Hobbyist FAQ What is a frag swap? Frag swaps give hobbyists\vendors the opportunity to buy, trade and sell captively grown coral to other hobbyists. INDMAS helps provide the venue, and an exciting raffle where we typically give away thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise and livestock. Food can be purchased from Knights of Columbus in their lounge. They will have pub style food. (Due to health codes INDMAS cannot have a concession stand.) How do I see what frags\goods will be available?Register for the swap on ReefTrader and post frags you have for sale, post frags you want, reserve frags that are posted! (Dry goods\equipment too.) Do I have to be present to win raffle prizes?Yes, you’ll need to present your ticket when called. We typically draw for smaller prizes around 2:30 and then do the other half of the prizes at 4. I’m new to frag swaps, will the corals be ok?Yes, just come prepared with a cooler so you can regulate temperature better and most corals shipped online can see 24 hour transit times. Should you have a long transit time consider heat/cold packs depending on temperatures. Float bag once home and drip acclimate so your parameters can equalize with your system. (Hopefully a QT system where you can properly dip/monitor new specimens) Do you accept credit card?Yes, the entrance and raffle will accept credit cards through Square. Many of the vendors and hobbyist will accept credit cards but always good idea to have cash too. Who is welcome to the swap?Anyone is welcome to the swap. INDMAS Members get in free and non-members get in for $5. If you have immediate family that’s with you and not a “reefer” they are not charged admission. How does the raffle work?Vendors at swap, sponsors of the club, and INDMAS contribute items to be raffled off. Tickets are sold for $1 each (Quantity discounts available) and each raffle prize has a bucket where you can put your ticket in. Hold on to your other half of the ticket and wait for announcements of winner’s numbers at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Win anything from a tank, pump, skimmer, powerheads, additives, salt, lighting, coral, fish! Are there quantity discounts for raffle tickets?$1.00 Each, 1 to 25 tickets for $25 =$1.00 each50 tickets for $45 = $0.90 each 75 tickets for $65 = $0.87 each 125 tickets for $100= $0.80 each 200 tickets for $155 = $0.78 each400 tickets for $300 =$0.75 each. What time is the swap?12-4 PM EST. At 4 PM the Raffle will start and we’ll end once we’re done with prizes. Hobbyist (With table selling frags) FAQ What time can we come and setup? 9:30 AM on Saturday morning. Be prepared and have your game plan before arriving! The earlier you arrive, the better those corals will look at noon. Hobbyist are not allowed to have business cards or any other signage except your fragswapper ID displayed, or you are considered a vendor and will have to pay vendor rates. I’m a hobbyist bringing frags, what do I need to bring to showcase my goods?Small tank, powerhead, heater, lighting, extension cord, and power strip. Show up as early as possible to get set up so polyp extension is great for the start of the swap. A sign up with your fragswapper ID is always a good idea too! 1 Quote
