INDMAS Facebook - Is it Taking Away?
FijiReefing replied to Luke33's topic in General Reef-keeping Chatter
What reef happy said x100. This is the issue everyone saw and it was inability to change or get out of this cliche group where people have to enter with money and effort. People are leaving and nothing about fb is making people. It is giving people OPTIONS and meanwhile this group is showing how they just become ancient to busy folks that use fb to network and place for sale items on dozens of for sale sites of which indmas was one. I was here when premium aquatics was in a storage building decade ago. Things have changed and a collective who are still here are fierce and think it is some sort of a fraternity. If you think you guys pose some super lucrative selling options that other fb groups don't offer, then you guys will never see the fall coming. IT is sad to see so much hard work be ruined by a few but people have options with tech and the ones deciding to go dictator are going to come up short. I have been a huge advocate for this group but I have lost hope and wish you guys the best. -

Does no one think that this made the group look bad how it went down? I thought it could have been handled more professional -

Budman, its the notification and the direct line and information to the person. FB is must improved for social interaction working deals IMO. At the min this forum needs tapatock or whatever it is named -

IMO there were more people joining paid membership on INDMAS from the free group than there were likely "paying members" that cheaped out because of the Facebook group. Guess the damage is done though forcing people to pay or not list things because it came across a little brash and I plan on renewing -
INDMAS Facebook - Is it Taking Away?
FijiReefing replied to Luke33's topic in General Reef-keeping Chatter
It is just worrisome that some people were leaving the group over this issue. I think plenty would trickle down into the forums but the whole situation just blew up and now it just looked bad on the whole group. I think it did so much more harm than good with over 50+ comments and then it was erased -

Someone on the group is erasing everything they don't like and its come pretty far from where it was a community of likeminded people. -

So is it a bad thing to encourage non members to become a part of our community? How is it healthy for the group to not let people sell and to alienate people who don't have the time for forums on mobile? -

That was my very novice opinion, it seems like it is a cervicornis. It's large circumference evolved for strong storms and random growth with very thick branches, small coralites, and integrated growth (overlap/intertwined). It needs huge flow to the point that it dies at the center as it grows and is very "finky". It seems to be very sensitive to temp which seems like a common trait. It has little color (common with cervicornis) and is a huge use of calcium as its skeleton is very, very dense. Slow, methodical growth, poor fragging success and extremely solid construction leads me to view it as such. I am only guessing but with the age of the colony (which is currently fading away becaues of change of flow angles that it grew with for 6 years) points to it being a possibility. Are they sought after, because its demise currently isnt a big problem for me. Its demands and picky nature followed by it's lack of attractive color didn't make it my favorite. You can see it next to the large pink pocilliapora colony. -

I live off of south grant street! Anyone is welcome to come see it and grab a frag or two if they are in the area. My number is (317) 777-4478 if you are near bloomington! As for Steve, the guy is one of the most knowledgeable and professional guy I have met. He is a class act and I look forward to him bouncing back and returning to the hobby when he gets well. Anyways I am looking to diversify my collection so I welcome trades or anyone looking for a huge derasa clam. Idk what I will do if he spawns again haha -

Poor Naso Vlamingii Tang @ Uncle Bills in Greenwood
FijiReefing replied to Reefhappy's topic in General Reef-keeping Chatter
Yea, I am hoping that the community of fish that a 300 gallon supports could spread any specific aggression. The same ideals that allow for purple and yellow tangs to coexist in larger communities. I will just have to play it by ear at this point. He is a wimp right now and is easily spooked by an exited yellow tang so I was more worried about the blue tang being the cause. The minute he saw the size of the vlamingi he backed off. Thanks guys~ -

It sure is. He is an awesome guy and I can not talk high enough of him. Only coral that didn't make it were his slimmer and carribean stag. Both were fragged but now the whole 40 gallon frag tank is full haha. -
anyone not need their wp40 or wp25 that they ordered? I will buy any left over units at $20 over cost to someone. Thanks!

update, he is fully eating (half dozen salad shrimp last night, half a nori sheet, and various mysis bits!) and is showing no aggression. He is very calm and curious about everything and I am very happy with how things went! -

I am Travis and yes they were great to deal with all in all. He is King of the 300 and I will have pictures to post when I get home. He is fat and appears free of disease and aggression (bites, tears, scars). Monitored him very closely and very, very happy with how everything went. I traded in 18-20 heads of frogspawn, 4 monti cap frags, hydropora frag (sm), florescent candy cane (8 heads), green monti cap, slimmer frag, 2 red digi frags, and mushroom rock. I got a cleanup crew, fire shrimp, small bicolor, sunset frag, and the big guy all on trade so $0 OTD! :) -
