bstoner
Looks like I am back to the regular trim from Perfecto. 1/2" glass is a lot more expensive and harder to cut and they cant polish the edges on a 2' wide piece. Got 90% of the old silicone off I just need to do some final cleaning then I can order the new trim and silicone it in place.

bstoner
Here are a few after the trim has been removed and most of the silicone was scraped off with a razor blade. Any tips on what to use to get the rest off?
Hocky
I like it without the top. Go for it. ;-)

Any tips on what to use to get the rest off? You can try some type of acetone based product or rubbing alcohol. That and more razor blade action should get all the silicone off. plantguy
For removing silicone, the best is PolyGone 500. Acetone is easier to find and works almost as well, just takes a little more elbow grease.

bstoner
We have gallons of Acetone lying around here at work, i will give it a shot. Hocky I like the rimless look too, I could turn it in to a 210 bow front and have the rimless look I agree, Scott thanks for all the knowledge thus far!! bstoner
Unfortunately No I havent had the time or money to mess with it lately. I still have it with the same goal eventually though
bstoner
Still really slow going but I ordered 72 feet of 1.5" square tubing today to get started on the stand.

bstoner
I made the top and bottom for the stand and have all the steel just not enough room to put it together right now. I need a bigger garage I also got a Vortec for Christmas that will be going in there.
Otty
Once you get this running we will have plenty gallons of sw running in little Jennings Co..
bstoner
This is still moving along slowly. I have built the stand and I got it coated in POR-15 over the weekend. I plan on building the skin for the stand in the next few months. What would you guys put between the stand and the tank if anything, sheet of plywood, Styrofoam sheet or similar?
Scalare102079
I would go with styrofoam
bstoner
The trim of the tank supports all the weight and I have seen some post on RC that in that situation do not use Styrofoam but I think it needs something just so long as it doesnt press against the glass bottom

lclzgarling
Your getting closer you'll have water in it before you know it.
dwsindy
Progress!! It is looking good. What size tubing did you use? In the last picture it looks like there is an overhang?
bstoner
Tubing is 1.5" .125" wall There is an overhang. I originally planned on building the stand the size of the glass and wanted the wood skin to meet up flush with the trim. I didnt realize at the time that all the weight/support is on the trim, hence the ledge It actually worked out nicely though as my skin will meet up with the bottom of the ledge and make it easy to cover the trim of the tank with something decorative I can incorporate into the skin.
