MrsBugmaster3
Well it looks like my husband is getting a temporary (2 to 3yrs) transfer to Saskatoon, Canada. I don't know all the details yet as we just found out on Friday. We will probably rent out our house for that time frame. Anyone looking to rent a house? I know it will be good for his career but dang, I just got into this hobby and enjoy it very much. I'm not ready to give it up already, but it will be very difficult to transport my livestock that far. And I don't know the laws about bringing fish across the border either. So I am not sure what I am going to do with my tank at this point. WE are taking the dog and two cats for sure. Also have a African Grey parrot that I do not want to part with either. Will have a 2005 Jeep Liberty for sale also if anyone is interested and other stuff in the next 2 months. Although my husband said if there are SW fish stores in that area I can set up a nano tank. Can I still be a member of this club if I live in Canada?

Besides it sounds like quite an adventure to live in another country for a couple of years. Just take plenty of warm clothes!! Tell the husband he can make it all up to you by getting an even bigger tank when you get back.
Scalare102079
Can I still be a member of this club if I live in Canada? Only if you bring me back some Canadian Bacon! JK. Of course, I cannot see a reason why you couldn't be. Marine aquariums are GLOBAL. You may find some awesome stuff up there, and sneak it back over the border to your fellow aquarists. lol. JokerGirl
It shouldn't be all that hard to get your pets up there. It can be a lengthy process getting all the paperwork in place so that you can do so, but once you do it's easy. We brought all of our pets from Ontario to here without too many issues. The only ones we couldn't bring were the turtles and it was because they carry salmonella. In order to do so, you'll essentially have to meet a Canadian DNR veterinarian at the border who will look over all your vaccination reports, as well as your animals to certify that they are indeed what you claim them to be, and also that they are indeed healthy. The idiot that looked at our parrot at the border just peeked into the van said, "Oh what a pretty bird", signed the papers, and waved us on. Piece of cake! Not sue how yet how we are doing all this. The company will pay for shipping the pets, but we have to buy the airline approved crates for shipping and take care of the vet certificates and thing ourselves. Since it is winter the parrot can not be shipped so she will have to go in van with us. The dog gets car sick so not sure I want him in the van for a 27 hr car ride which will take us 2 1/2 days to get there. But we have to get there first before we can ship them so we are there to pick them up. So will probably have a friend or neighbor keep the 2 cats and 1 dogs for a few days first before shipping them. There are so many things to think about and do on such a major move. And I am not sure yet what I am doing with the tank. All I know is that I will not be taking it with me, maybe take my 12gal. How many fish can I keep in a 12gal??
