  1. My wife put an extra powerhead under my tank when we broke down a different tank. During the next water change, I plugged all the plugs back in after the change, including the extra power head. After dozens of future water changes, I realized that power head was not IN the tank. Needless to say, it was ruined.
  2. Greetings from the Lafayette area. I want to take this opportunity to reintroduce myself. I haven't been an member in a couple years because of a lack of interest in the hobby. I started 4 years ago with a 29 biocube, then bought a 50 gallon square tank from a member here. A few years ago, I started battling cyno, green hair algea, and other odd things (like fish just missing one day). I upgraded the 50 square to a standard 75 glass tank and upgraded my filtration, power heads, and even bought a new RO/DI unit, but the problems continued. I lost all the coral and all but 2 fish, my maroon clown and a foxed-face rabbitfish. For well-over a year now, I've been maintaining an almost empty tank. I've kept up on water changes and have been buying my RO water from the local fish store. 3 months ago, I was given a small red starfish. I've killed many a starfish, but this one survived. Not only that, I noticed that all my cleaning crew survived that we had added. A few weeks ago, I told my wife that I thought the tank was looking really good lately. We got talking and agreed that we hadn't seen cyno in a long time, the coralline algea was growing more and more, and that maybe we could start small and introduce coral again. Now, I'm back at INDMAS and excited about going slow but with great excitement. We've added a green polyp toadstool, pulsing xenia, and riccordia frags and they look great after 2 weeks. In the past year, the main things we changed were the water, and a reduction in feedings. I look forward to attending a meeting this time around at INDMAS, and hope to make the frag swap. Barry
  3. The newest picture in my gallery shows a sun coral from Aquarium World. Still looking good.
  4. I'm afraid to buy anything from you, because when you asked me which frag I wanted, my answer would be, "Yes!".
  5. And to clarify, it's a dwarf angel, not a flame angel.
  6. The anemone was very small, actually. It's a concern of mine that the clown is "smothering" the anemone, actually. As an update, my clown and anemone are safely in the 55 gallon cube, getting used to the new tank. It appears to be healing well. The flame angel is in the 29 biocube still, but I'm a little afraid to add anything to that tank after this episode.
  7. Original fish tank had the dwarf angel and the maroon clown for 6 months without problem. As soon as I removed the bubble tip that was hosting the maroon, the angel fish unleashed her attack.
  8. Anyone heard of this issue? Two days ago, I moved the bubble-tip anemone into my new tank. The anemone hasn't looked good in months, and the plan has always been to move it into my new tank because of the better lighting. I figured my clown would be fine. However, the next day after moving the anemone, the maroon clown had been nipped at pretty bad and was hovering in one corner, afraid to leave to eat or anything else for that matter. I watched it for a while, and any time the dwarf angel got near it, it would show the clown aggression. Is this normal for two fish like these of the same size who have been in this tank together for over 6 months? Also, will the clown's fins heal okay? I should get some pics. They're not aweful, but I feel it.
  9. I'm going to keep the 29 gal. Biocube as my softie/leather tank and focus on hard corals in the 50 gallon. Only thing I'll move over is my anemone and clownfish. The anemone just doesn't do well in with the biocube's lighting, it seems. I'm looking forward to getting into the acans, monti's, lobo's, etc. I'll need to figure out how I'll supplement calcium, but I'm looking forward to the new challenge.
  10. I still need to do some wire management, but here's a view into the canopy.
  11. I may down the road, but from what I've seen, I don't like all the light spilling all over the place. With a canopy, I can control some of the light spillage. Pics.
  12. Tuesday, my new favorite toy came in the mail. A bought a Current Sundial 250W HQI pendant with the (2) 32" watt dual actinics. Wednesday, my lunar lights came in. That means this weekend, I'll be working on my canopy. Pictures shall follow.
  13. So I'm getting my new tank set up, and I wondered what is everyone's all-time favorite coral. Just looking for the higher end corals that are stunning that people in INDMAS have enjoyed. I'm still very new to the hobby and don't know what is all out there.
  14. We had our first fish casualty last week. Our Red Scooter Blenny had lost his appetite the last couple weeks and we saw he was getting lean. We tried feeding him everything, but he finally died. We've replaced him already with another Dragonette, but I made sure he ate mysis before bringing him home.
