  1. Don't do that Clint, that stuff is garbage and will cause your skimmer to go psyco for a week. Its probably the worst thing I've ever put in my tank in 13yrs besides an AquaC Remora.
  2. I have been fragging sps for about 10yrs or so at this point and I have always used the dollar tree super glue gel because of a few reasons. 1- its cheap and 2- its very thick. I have tried half a dozen other glue's and always dislike them because they are to runny or to messy. The only thing I don't like about the dollar tree glue is you end up wasting some of it since its in tube's and here recently the tube's have broken completely and made a mess all over the place when I was trying to glue down frags. I won't disclose the glue's that I gave to the wife for her hobbies, but I recently tried the premium aquatics private label(like many have these days) and I was honestly surprised. It looks like many of the other glue's out there on the market but the price was really cheap for two ounces(8.99). I was extremely happy when I used it for the first time as it was as thick as dollar tree or more so, and as soon as the coral was pushed on it, bam, it stuck, which is the biggest issue with to runny glue's out there. It also instantly hardened when I put it in the water. So I can finally say, I don't use dollar tree glue anymore.....sweet! Anyone else try this stuff yet? Or anyone have a similar glue they prefer? Is there anything better on the market that has a better price point?
  3. Its called Cherry Corals Passionfruit. Kind of reminds me of the Pikachu or RR Pink Floyd. It was pretty bleached when I got it but now is super yellow with really red polyps. Should be a pretty nice piece here in a few more months. https://www.cherrycorals.com/product/cc-passionfruit/
  4. Thanks Amanda! Ha, thanks for looking!
  5. Thanks, I still have some work to do on a few sps, just won't color up for me, but everything else is looking pretty good so far, just have to keep the parameters consistent!
  6. Some daylight pics
  7. As far as I know, you get yours back Loki?
  8. Its pretty sweet but I bet in 2yrs they are in the 200-300 range and many companies have them.
  9. Looks good, I like the new light. I saw the bc packs, tough to beat, let us know how they look when they arrive.
  10. Very nice, great job on the upgrade!
  11. Yep, same reefpets. He has some great stuff, it just takes a while to color up, and you have to be picky. Not all the sps above are named
  12. RR OP Daylight and Blue Led Franklin Redhead Beautiful Milli Another gorgeous Milli Aussie sps Bonsai Reef Pets Pandemonium Nice Tenuis Shirley Temple
  13. Sweet, good to hear! Let us know what you think. Most love them but Brad up at SimplySaltwater hated the color, so he swapped out alot of the led's and replaced them in every one of the fixture's he purchased.
  14. Out of the black box lights they seem to have the best spectrum. The only issue I have seen is actually getting them as people are not getting any communication and its taking up to two months. Let us know how the light order goes. Hopefully you have good luck.
  15. Do you have a top down box and what kind of camera? Does it have white balance
  16. Thanks Brandon, so far so good. Its always nice when things are going well but in the back of my mind i'm always waiting for that one incident that turns things bad! Thanks Paul! Its the nicest hammer i've ever owned, very unique.
  17. How big is the tank? Are you talking about angel's or anglers?
  18. Well it's a great weekend to work inside! I wish I had a sink and drain in my fish room. If you stagger the t5's I think you could grow sps on the bottom of the tank and really close from front to back. So nearly 100% of the tank.
  19. What kind of dry rock did you start with? Have you checked your RODI water to make sure its at zero? Man....dry rock....
  20. If no one see's it and it will be hidden I would 100% go with the retrofit's as that would be an amazing setup and not to steep price wise. 12 60" would allow you to grow sps in 3/4 of that tank if not 100%. I don't believe the LET's are identical as I heard they are a bit wider, but they are suppose to be very nice. You can put a fan on both ends and your good to go. IMO there is nothing special about the ati t5 ballasts. If you wanted to get crazy you could swap out those ballast's on the t5's with IC660's and overdrive them to 100w, but that will shorten the life of the bulb's from 10mths to 8mths. I did that for years with success, but it probably makes more sense to use the retro kit. You could really have a nice spectrum with this setup and your growth and color would be great.
  21. Ok, thanks for the heads up, may check them out this weekend.
  22. Thanks Amanda, I would buy those but my tank is to thick, they are a great price.
  23. Anyone have any magnetic rock shelf's? Or do any of you know what would work well on 3/4" glass. I know alternate reef carries them but anyone else?
  24. Ha, puffers are such cool fish. My can't they be reef safe!
  25. Thanks Jlfalin. Currently I am using an 8x80w ati t5 fixture. I am running two blue pop E5's, one blue led tube from aquarium specialty, two giesemann actinic blue, two giesemann aquablue + and one giesmann super purple. So essentially 5 t5's and 3 blue led tube's. In total I have ran t5's for around 8yrs, MH's for 3yrs and led only systems for 5-6yrs. The most finicky for sps has easily been the leds due to shading, intensity spots, ramping and overall spectrum. The easiest has been t5 and mh. I like t5 more for my display just because of the ability to pick the spectrum I like and you can cool them easily. MH's can be cooled but the spectrum just isn't as easy to fix, and the evaporation rate is very high as well. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. T5's with LED are my favorite just because I can control the spectrum, get good growth and I still have the blue pop. The reason I run the e5's is just ascetically they fit in the fixture and don't have to be bolted on. I am waiting for someone to actually make a led for t5 sockets that use 3w diode's.......i mean if your going to do it, then do it right. So the other questions I would ask, I know your looking for mainly SPS. Whats your price range you want to spend? What functionalities are you looking for in lighting? Is this going to be in a canopy or out in the open? So are ascetics important?
