  1. It is the tandem/skinny/1/2" breaker is what I was talking about. I will have to check to make sure that there is enough capacity in the box to run another 15 amp breaker tandem breaker (these tandem breakers count as 30 amps, 2 - 15 amp breakers). I have a two hundred amp servce so I am hoping that there is room. I will let you know how it goes. On a sidenote I have heard that it is not a good idea to run a continual load on a tandem skinny breaker since they tend to heat up quite a bit is there any truth to that?
  2. Yes, it is siliconed. I think it would be very similar to how guys replace glass panes in tanks. Use either fishing line or thin wire and get a start under the tank frame and then "saw" through the silicon. I believe this is how it is done.
  3. Okay I have an electrical question here, first off I want to run a line in my basement specifically for two receptacles to power my aquarium equipment. The problem is that I don't have an open spot in my service panel. With that said can I replace a single 15 amp breaker with a double 15 amp breaker to supply this additional line with power/protection? The reason I want a dedicated line is to eliminate the stereo/TV, electric space heater, and aquarium equipment being on the same circuit. So basically, is adding a double 15 amp breaker allow me to add a line without having to buy a bigger service panel? Come on I know there are some electrical guru's out there!
  4. Good point, only thing is with the piano hinge on top it is hidden. I know I can mount it between the seam but the pine won't be thick enough to handle the width of the hinge. How do have yours hinged and are they hidden?
  5. Alright, I got to build a new light hood for the 90. I will be using 14" Paint Grade Pine board. Do the simple box, the front will lift with a hinge, and 12" of the top will be hinged. This will allow good access to the tank. On the top I am using a 24" cold air return grate to let heat escape from around the reflectors of the halides and will have a computer fan on one end. Hopefully this will keep the heat down to manageable level. The tank will be in my basement which is a cool 68 degrees almost year round. Do you guys think this is a decent design?
  6. Exactly, I just sucked it up and bought a dual pulse start 175W PFO Retro kit. I will use two URI Super actinics on my 660 for dusk/dawn and then the halides. Don't understand people that use 8 T-5's or something like that, might as well as use halide, IMO. You get the nice shimmer effect and you don't have to replace 8 bulbs at a time. I will now have two 175W Mogul Based Halides with two 110W VHO's as actinics on the 90. This should be an awesome setup! I should be able to keep anything I want now. By the way I got two Reflux 10K bulbs with the setup.
  7. Well, after looking at the T-5's it is only about $150 more for MH, Dual 175W Metal Halide Retro Kit. So, I think I am just going to do the leap and get MH. Just doesn't make sense to upgrade to T-5 when in the end I will be getting MH anyway. I just need to redo the hood, which I had to do in the first place for the width of the 90 versus the 55.
  8. Looks like I will be putting T-5 lighting over my 90 Gallon now. I have researched and this seems like a better option over VHO. They are not as hot, better reflectors, bulbs are cheaper, and the bulbs last longer. Some people claim they are smaller but with the reflector they are about the same size as VHO. I will probably be getting MH in the future anyway... Will 4 T-5's be enough for LPS and Softies in a 90? The tank will be 20" deep after the sandbed.
  9. That was going to be my suggestions, I have read several times that crushed coral can trap detritrus and become a nitrate factory.
  10. Yeah, if I can only get this tank set-up!!!!
  11. Just like to say hello and I am new here. I just purchased a 90 gallon after 55 Gallon cracked, long story! Well I had everything ready to setup for the 55 and then it cracked, bummer, but now I have an even bigger tank. This is where you guys come in! Here are my specs: 90 Gallon AGA Drilled By Me - Two 1.5' Bulkhead - Top Corners - Overflow/Return, 3 - 1" Bulkheads across the bottom for Closed Loop ASM G2 Skimmer 2- 300 Watt Titanium Heaters Will be using a Pan World External 50PXX for the Closed Loop Mag 7 For Sump Pump 55 Gallon Sump Tank - Half Sump, Half Fuge Vho Lighting - 440 Watts The lighting is where I have the most questions. Is this sufficient for most softies and LPS? I plan on having 100lbs live rock and a 4" DSB. Comments are welcome! P.S. - I plan on becoming a member will pay at the next frag swap, if that is okay?
