  1. As the description says I am looking to split an order from Reed's Mariculture. I am looking to get some rotifers, Roti-Grow Plus and maybe some ClorAm-X. I will not use an entire bottle of it before it would expire and don't need much ClorAm so I wanted to see if anyone else is in the same boat. It would save money and give us a better culture. Is anyone has a starter culture of rotifers I would also be willing to buy those locally.
  2. I actually bought them from Catdoc, a member here. They are not spawning yet perhaps due to picking from clownfish but are a pair. Inland Aquatics sells pairs for $99.
  3. While I wouldn't consider myself a breeder I am beginning that journey. I currently have a spawning pair of black and white ocellaris and I am getting a spawning pair onyx and a pair of Bangii this weekend. I hope to be able to say that I am a breeder a few months from now.
  4. I have had similar problems and found my ro water was bad. I may be wrong in this but I think that just ro does not remove phosphates. A DI cartridge will remove them. My water here must be loaded with PO4 so I have to keep a really close eye on it.
  5. I have lost Turbo snails like that before. From what I have read turbos typically don't last long at reef temps. I had one tank where all turbos I put in would last about a week. I ended up finding I had phosphate issues. Astraea snails did fine in the same tank.
  6. It should be a pretty cool site. The new podcast comes out next week. For anyone not familar with Marc check out Reefcast. They have a good mix of humor and info.
  7. I have an Air water and ice as well. I have the dual model which has the chrome faucet for your sink and an outlet below your sink for your reef. The faucet is just RO and the reef outlet adds DI. When I ordered replacement membrane I got the 150G one. It had the same rejection rate and I almost have RO water on demand.
  8. Hi Katrina. Thanks for the info. I sent a Pm to cbrfire also. It's interesting all the different ways people culture phyto and rotifers. The eggs haven't hatched yet but are getting close. The male took care of them but the last couple days the female has really gotten aggressive. If I look at the eggs now she comes over after me and kicks up sand and does look like she would love to get ahold of me.
  9. It seems something is good for spawning in this Indiana water. I just thought I would share my success as well. These are the clowns I bought from Katrina (Hooked) a while back. This may not have been their first for me as they placed the eggs under the tile on the smooth side rather than on top of the tile as I expected. The pictures arent great as it was hard to get to and was using a point and shoot but they work. I plan to try and raise some starting in January. Does anyone have any good phyto and rotifer cultures?

  13. I have been searching on this with no real good luck so its time to ask for advice. ? ?I recently set up a 40G breeder frag tank. ?It has a 4x39W Nova Extreme light. ?After a nasty battle initially with eggcrate algae things settled in and looked better. ? My recent experience is that my frags are seeing no growth, in fact many are shrinking, especially the zoas. ?Some zoas and a tiny frogspawn are also beginning to lose color. ?My Acans and duncan are doing well though. ? ?I have two runt clownfish in the tank that I feed very little daily since they are so tiny, like a couple flakes total. ?I have put in ?a small cubes worth of Rod's Food a few times but mostly have not put any food in the tank since starting it. ?I have a BakPak skimmer, and HOB filter. ?I also have added Chaeto to remove any excess nitrate and phosphate. ? ? ? To my point I guess, how much and what do you guys feed your frag tanks or what would be your recommendation for mine? ?I know my light isnt overkill but I only have the frags about 6-8" under the surface so I would have thought I would have at least seen a little growth or worse case staying even without feeding. ?

  15. Hey Jamie, nice stuff. The pics of the last swap was just the tip of the iceberg. We are nearing the holiday season soon and I think that in order to get in the giving spirit you should give them all to me. I mean you surely wouldn't want to be considered a grinch or anything.
  16. Hey Katrina. I am heading to Indy as long as you still have a spot. Just let me know where you want to meet.
  17. Hello all. It looks like I am going to get to go to this. Katrina, do you still have a carpool slot open? Is anyone from the Lafayette area going?
  18. Please put me down. I will only need a small draw and will bring an extension chord.
  19. As promised earlier here are some pictures of the mini carpets I am bringing.
  20. A person on Koiphen, a koi forum, has 40lb bags of Blackwater cool water food for $50 plus shipping. I have been reading and Blackwater seems to be a good brand to use. Does anyone else have koi that needs to buy some spring and fall food? If so, I could pay him and get it shipped to me and we could divide it up at the swap. I will also freeze some to use for fall. Let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks Daniel
  21. I will be bringing my blue mushrooms and I should also have some mini-carpets. I will try to get some pics. Daniel
  22. I signed up for the deluxe fragger pack last night. Now I need to prepare my frags. Hopefully it turns out well.
  23. I am looking to buy a couple of the 2007 IMAC videos. The Bob Fenner video on aquaculture and the Joe Lichtenbert video. Has anyone seen these to give any reviews? Just trying to see if they are worth the cost. Thanks
  24. Sounds good. I am out of town until after Christmas but I will dig the other one up and then send you the info.
  25. With the recent offers for buy 1 get 1 free for magazine subscriptions I wanted to see if anyone wants to partner up and save us both some money. I have one for Aquarium Fish magazine and I will have to dig through old issues of Tropical Fish Hobbyist but I have an old offer for them as well. If you would be interested in splitting these please let me know. Have a great Christmas! Daniel
