  1. The guy at Lowes is an idiot, do not remove a 20 amp fuse and put in a 30 amp fuse unless you want to burn your house down. The wire that is usally run to the socket is only good for either 15 or 20 amps. If you put a larger breaker size in, the wire now becomes basically the fuse instead of the breaker. There are a couple of ways to handle this situation. The first is to have the power company come out and retap your transformer to boost the voltage or you can add a buck boost transformer to your fish room.
  2. I had the large fixture LED's that came out a couple of years ago (cant think of the name) and tried them on my 30 inch deep tank. If I remember correctly they were 1 watt LED's and i want to say there were 24 in each bank and maybe 4 banks (6 ft length). At the bottom of the tank the PAR readings were very very low and the area that the light spread was very small. IMO you will need to spread them out to cover the area or have alot more than 36 in a bank to cover the area of any tank with any kind of width. I think if you use the lens this will help with the par at the bottom but will hurt with the coverage area.
  3. Jim, do you have an update on your tank? Have you noticed any changes? I have been thinking about using it myself.

  21. "Check with swimming pool supply companies. If they don't have it they can probably order it for you. Be careful with drive way ice melt. Theres a lot of other stuff you don't want in most brands." Dan Dont know where you got that, Randy on RC has advocated using it with no problems and I have used it for years. 22. I have got a large quantity of the Prestone Driveway Heat that I can trade. I have used it and it works great.
  23. Big Reef, here is a couple of pictures, I am a terrible photographer full view Left side Center Right Side My system weighs in at approx 7500 lbs and sits over my crawl space. The front of the tank sits over the top of the supports for the floor joists. The tank has a width of 3 feet so I decided for extra piece of mind to add a 4X4 under the floor joists at approx the rear of the tank. I used four adjustable floor jacks (screw type) to support the 4X4. These jacks will also make it easier to level the tank out if there is some settling. I do not forsee much settling as this setup is replacing one that weighed approx 6000 lbs. I used concrete footer pads from Lowes that are designed for supporting decks. They are appro 1'X1'X6" tall. They are really stout In the 5 months that the system has been setup the tank has not settled at all. I have used these pads on my deck and have great luck with them
  24. These things can hold thousand of pounds each. Here is the link to it. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=prod...mp;sortOp=nameA
