  1. I'll second using vinyl, I have it as a background on all four of my tanks, easy to apply, lloks great, and isn't difficult to remove.
  2. This was a online store in the indy area. Their website says they were going to relocate on 12/1 with a hope of opening again soon in the future. Does anyone have any info on this place, or an ETA on when they will be open again? TIA
  3. Charity, That was a while ago, tank is restocked with no problems now, still not sure to the exact cause, but I think it was a loose electrical current from a powerhead...Conratulations on your little girl, and I'm glad the Star is doing well. Mike
  4. St. Louis, has several great stores. Average trip is about 3-3.5 hours (240 miles from indy) depending on how you drive. Great food, and several attractions that are worth the trip (one of the countries best zoo's and it's free to boot). If interested it used to be home, so i'll get more info for anyone who cares.
  5. I was flabergasted all day long on the first...then the date hit me...doh, they got me.
  6. When I was in last week they said they were going to be dropping th e Firday opens and switch to being open for locals every saturday.
  7. PA is Premium Aquatics www.premiumaquatics.com
  8. Last week I picked up a medium BTA fromPA for $39. I currently have in my 5' tank under 260w PC's while waiting on the new currentUSA's to come into stock a PA for my 75. He is doing fine, expanded size is about 9" across and my clark's, love it.
  9. #3, Contigent upon my work schedule. Work 1 saturday a month, and without fail, it's been the same saturday for the past 5 months...Do we have a time that the meeting and workshop will be held?
  10. If you don't have a test kit yet, pick one up. When you see your amonia, and nitrite drop to 0 i'd add them then.
  11. I can't take it anymore I've got to make at lesat one meeting. I work 1 saturday a month, and it's allways the same one that group meetings are on... I'm goin to try to make it tomorrow if I can get out of work soon enough.
  12. my error (happens on 3 separate PC's) when uploading to my gallery: Error No picture was uploaded ! If you have really selected a picture to upload, check that the server allows file uploads...
  13. I'm having the dreaded "debug error" trying to send you my PM. If you didn't get can you email at [email protected] so that I can get it to you? Thanks Michael
  14. Swung by UB ES tonight while running errands, and they have significantly increased their SW stock. A shipment had just come in so I don't know of everything there now, but saw quite a few triggers, tangs, chromis, a few spanish hogfish, lions (dwarf, volitan), some fairy wrasses, and stars (linkia, CC, and serpent brittle) just to name a few that I saw. A pretty good variety of sizes too from what I saw. I was really impressed, more than I've ever seen there, and honestly more than I've seen even at the SS location (still no frags on the ES though!) Just a heads up to anybody looking.
  15. It's been 10 days since the last loss, I think what ever it was has run it's course. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on the board who posted and helped out. Especially to Nick and Paul at the Abyss. Thank you again! Mike
  16. Nope the Cuke is doing his normal thing (i.e. nowhere near the substrate). Spent about an hour with Paul at Abyss. Double checking Water chemistry, etc. just as lost as I am. There best guess is an electric current flowing through the tank from a powerhead or another piece of equipment... Picked up a grounding probe and will inspect the equipment this evening...
  17. Daily update. Got home from work and the 4 remaining fish all still with me. Goby has returned to his normal coloration, and he angels eyes still look a little enlarged and slightly cloudy. Bad news, The saddle anemone has collapsed down to about 2" in size. And my Lettuce Nudibranch is floating free in the currents with mucas trailing off it looking like it is litteraly melting... Both have since gone to the QT. The nudibranch recovered after about 5 inutes and is doing its thing like normal. I have attempted to entice the anemone with a small piece of nrich scallp, and though he is slow about I think he will take it. Only difference in the tank from last night is the 20% water change. and raised my salinity from .023 to .024. nitrates are pretty much unchanged still at about 20ppm. trites are at 0 as close as i can tell by color, alkalinity and ph both show fine too.
  18. All powerheads, filteres and the heater appear to be functioning perfetly. The tank is not grounded, though I think i will be picking one up tomorrow. With the finger in the water and other hand on metal test (kids dont try this at home) I felt no shock or surge on the seat of the pants voltometer. The test kits are fairly new Quick dip test kit is @ 2 months old (which i use as a principle weekly tester) the FasTest master kit takes quite a while longer so I only use when I feel I need to double check and such is about 9 months old + shelf time for both.
  19. Thanks nick, I'll Try to swing by tomorrow after work. I've done a 20-25% water change. I'll take a look at everything again tomrrow and see how we are doing.
  20. Well seeing as I've had nets in the tank for about 15 minutes with no luck as getting any fish maybe i'll let them stay in. Thanks
  21. In the course of the past 30 minutes or so, the saddle anemone has decided his side of tank is bad, and has moved to the far corner, he still upside down moving on his tentacles. lokking very withered and deflated. The one that I'm really worried about is the watchman goby his head has turned from white to BLACK! and every few moments he is taking large gulps. Help, I'm trying to bring th QT tank on line after sitting by itself for the past 2 weeks or so. (my stupiity for not having it prepped all the time) salinity was high from evap. I'm really geting paranoid...
  22. OK, The angel's eyes look a little cloudy and larger than normal. and the clowns seem a little washed out on color. Goby looks fine for now. All four are going to be going into the 20 gallon QT when I finish this post (thats going to be a pain). Then I will do a massive water change. 1.) this faq http://www.artnet.com.pl/lkozicki/thekrib/disease-sw.html lists a few posssibilities. Based on the before mentioned info and the new symptons the angel is displaying, does any one have any more Ideas? 2.) Where can I find Fomalin here in Indy, if that is the recommended treatment? From what I've read on the WWW it is considered a controled carcynogin (SP)? 3.) Tank treatment...Besides the Masive water bill increase and cost of the Bag of salt. Any thing else I should do? Add another treatment, etc. Vacuum the sand bed thouroughly to get any thing that might be hiding in there (parasite), scrub rock, etc... My major concern there is the anemone and inverts here, dont really want to track down every crab and shrimp in my tank. And I believe that some meds will hurt Inverts. If so do these need to go to an QT also (dont relish the idea of all the livestock in a 20g!
  23. Havn't seen any velvet, ich, or fin rot, breathing seems regular for the clowns, angel and goby, so dont think it's flukes. There are a lot of hiding spaces, rock i s mainly tonga, kaelini with some fiji on the base. I will try raising the salinity this evening, along with a partial water change of @ 25-30%. as far as feeding, dont feed a large quantity at there feedings, but i do have a lot of inverts to keep happy also, so the excess usually goes to them. rule I've heard is enough for them to eat for 2 miniutes, and thats it. Most of the food is gone in less than that time, with only a small amount dispersed throughout the tank by the powerheads. Thanks will try a few things tonight.
