  4. December Meeting 2023

    Club, its that time of year again, sick kids, head colds, flu, shoveling snow, scraping windows without gloves... er, wait, I mean it's the 2023 INDMAS Holiday Party!!!    This is the event that makes those other things bearable!    

    As part of the festivities we will be having a White Beluga gift exchange.  This is optional participation and gifts should be no more than $25 and the gift should be saltwater related.  Its always a lot of fun!  

    We will also be having a food pitch-in.  In the RSVP reply that you are attending please put what you are bringing so others will know.

    Let's show a great turnout this month club.  See you all there!

    Check out Paul's system  and see what makes this one run. If you have not seen this system it includes a 21+ years old reef run exclusively on an algae scrubber, a 305 gallon system with a 6' main tank and a 4' frag tank and a 263 gallon schooling cichlid aquarium. 

    Take a break from the hustle and bustle for a couple of hours and enjoy

    a little late to the reply but try dosing hydrogen peroxide

     In the case of blue-green algae: Use 1.5 to a maximum of 2.5 ml of the 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water. In the case of green algae: 20.25 ml to a maximum of 32.5 ml of the 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide per 13 gallons of water.

    this always knocked it back for me until I got a handle on the root cause usually in my case over feeding

  11. INDMAS October Meeting NOTE Date and Time

    The October meeting will be On Saturday October 21st 2023 and will be held at Modern Aquatix 5508 Elmwood Ave Indianapolis IN 46203

    The official meeting will be from 3:30 to 5:30 pm

    The October meeting is also the election of officers so all members should plan on attending. Check out the positions below for candidates or to nominate candidates

    There will be no sales during the meeting only prior to the meeting.

    Our club elections will be at this meeting so we hope to see everyone there!

    Nominations for the 2024  board have now officially started club!  Per the INDMAS By-Laws, and in order to have more time to train any new BOD in preparation for the frag swap…the newly nominated positions will now be taking office on November 1st, 2023.

    Nominations will remain open until the night before the meeting on October 20th 2023 and voting will take place at the same October monthly meeting (Must be present to vote!!).  If you are interested in running for one of the offices below you can nominate yourself or you may nominate another member.  If another member nominates you, please accept or reject that nomination on this thread! There is no limit to the number of nominations accepted per position.

    This is a great opportunity to give back to INDMAS, help assist your local non-for-profit club grow and educate, and to show your reefing pride!

    So without further adieu here is the list of open positions and current nominees!

    INDMAS is a great reefing community that offers tons of resources for us to keep our piece of the ocean looking at its best.  But all of those resources are carefully and diligently planned out by the volunteers on our Board of Directors.  This year we have a few positions that will be open to take office on November 1st.  These are all one year terms...and the nominations will begin in September.  The officers below have done a great job already for 2023, and

     2024 Frag Swap Commerce Committee

    Don't think you have enough time to swing a Staff position?  The INDMAS Frag Swap is a big undertaking and planning for the March 9th 2024 event will start in November.  The Commerce Committee is responsible for helping solicit those awesome raffles that you see near the stage every year!  They are a pivotal position and work directly with the Commerce Chair to ensure a great fundraiser for the club.  How can you help give back to the club and the reefing community?  I'm glad you asked!  Email for more information to see if this is a good fit for you:  [email protected]

  16. September 2023 Retro Frag Swap

    All of the Kids are back in school, College and NFL football have both started what can top that? No not Christmas in September although close it is The annual INDMAS Retro Frag Swap. 

    The September meeting will be our annual retro frag swap and will be on Saturday September 9th at Doug (ddeurloo) and Cheryl's (redfish) home.

    They have a 300 gallon display and a 500 gallon system. Make sure to bring a notebook and camera so you can take notes about one of the best designed fish rooms in the club and a water storage system that could fill a swimming pool. All pictures are copyrighted (just joking).

    The retro frag swap is no tanks/no lights/no heaters old school-  just frags in coolers to buy sell and trade.  Bring cash with you to the meeting or set up trades. We will post a thread specific for the retro frag swap in buy sell and must be a member to access that post.

    The August meeting will be at Luis's (Gonzo620) home at 1727 Jacques Drive in Lebanon IN on Saturday August 5th from 4pm to 6pm. NOTE DATE is 1st Saturday in August

    Luis has a very well though out 180 gallon display tank with great attention to detail for his system. 

    Additionally most of us do not get the chance to venture to out of the area stores. That gave us an idea to organize a field trip to Aquarium World in Lafayette. Aquarium World setup at the frag swap in 2021. The idea is to meet at Luis at 12:30 to 1pm and carpool to Aquarium World in Lafayette. This is not part of the official club meeting and we will return to Luis' for the meeting. Let us know if you might be interested and we will update the thread if we have the interest.

    Josh the owner of aquarium world is working on some club specials.
