tprize
I have a Simplicity 1600 DC pump, and having never had a sump before I’m not sure if this much noise is normal. Simplicity offered to exchange it for me, but before I buy a second pump and pay for shipping this one back, I wanted some other opinions on if this sounds louder then normal. It’s not like a pump sound I am used to, it’s like a constant Hrtz hum that can be heard through the room. ryansweet
I'd say that's not something normal. Can't tell you what it is, but it isn't something I've ever heard from an aquarium pump before.
BGrand
First off I am digging the aquascape. Secondly that is not a normal pump sound to me. I have had really good luck with the Sicce Syncra silent pumps. Not sure of your location but The Reef in Indy carries these pumps and so does BRS (link below). They are real quite. Also be sure to get some good soft silicone tubing. https://aquarium.bulkreefsupply.com/search?w=sicce syncra silent
tprize
I’ll send the unit back, and get a replacement then.
cmrun
Yeah, as Ryan and BGrand mentioned, that is not the norm.
MrsBugmaster
I agree this in not normal, especially for a dc pump. I would look at a Varios or Vectra is you want a dc pump. Or a Sicce Syncra silent pump.
