Self-priming siphon

Been Mired

They're pretty common in aquaponics setups. Part of it may be due to size, not all systems have the space for the bell portion. It will also completely drain the overflow area unless you have one heck of a pump which I'm guessing would have to be at least a few thousand gph for a 1.5" drain at full siphon. The noise from when it breaks siphon is pretty noticeable as well. There might be things where they'd be useful but as a primary drain for your tank, likely not. Now if you want to make something for say like a surge it could have its uses.
