What is this?

This thing came attached to the plug in the picture. It is approximately the diameter of a quarter. It came as a hitchhiker with the the ricordea coral purchased from the now defunct Reefs2Go. It was about the size of a pea when it arrived and I thought it was a bubble of superglue. Both have since moved off the plug. There are several other similar looking ones in my overflow/fuge in my bio cube, though they are white.

It does not appear to be a pineapple sponge since it doesn't have the "leaves" around the opening. If it is a sponge I assume I should leave it alone. And no I didn't poke it
