I have always wondered if anyone local has had success with an ATS. It seems like they are getting pretty popular, also if you go with a santamonica scrubber they seem like a pretty small footprint on the side of your sump. Has anyone lowered there Phosphates using one?

Thanks,

Luke

Looks good Ross. I have always ran chaeto in my fuge but honestly I can't recall it ever growing very well, not to mention it can be a mess. My thoughts are eventually running one of the Hogg's santimonica offers. I just wonder if this is better than chaeto at removing phosphates.

As per instructed by Santa Monica I am leaving them on 18 hrs. It is on my 34 Solana in the middle back chamber. It barely fits so no room to adjust it for better bubbles. If it is that fussy on positioning I would look for another brand. Maybe you would have better luck if it was in a sump.

i would say, its possible that the rocks are leaching phosphates and the algae is eating it before it can acutally leach into the water. so if the rocks are covered it may need to be scrubbed of algae, and then see if the scrubber takes off

Well according to the sales pitch it it should work without doing anything but adding the ATS. Just put this thing on and algae should start going away in tank and grow in ATS.

I have since taken most of rock out and treating it in another tank with Algae fix and that is helping. Next step is using Phosphate removal product to get phosphate out out rock. I am doing this outside of display so I don't have any deaths due to massive algae die off. So with some rock still in tank I would think this ATS should be working. but t has been only a week since removing most of my rock. I am not impressed with it.
