  1. Last week
  2. In addition to the meatballs we will be making pulled pork sandwiches.
  3. Earlier
  4. I used to. I’ve read that it could cause issues with the nem, but the only negative thing I noticed was my nems would create more organic waste rather than just allowing them photosynthetic feeding, and just catching whatever/eating what their clowns brought them
  5. We will be making meatballs and another protein to be determined as we get closer to the weekend. Hoping to get something on the grill. Of course, both Marcia and I will be there. Lol.
  6. Hello, Does anyone have an opinion or experience in feeding carpet nems silversides? Thank you
  7. Maxwell, welcome to the club. This is a potluck style meeting that you can bring food or drink, if you’d like. But it isn’t required to bring anything except yourselves.
  8. Hello this is Maxwell I'm a new member and I wanted to let you know that me and my dad will be attending. Hope to see all of you guys for the first time!
  9. I’ll be there looking forward to meeting the new members.
  10. Cheryl and I plan on coming, we will bring a pasta salad. Hopefully get to meet several new members!
  11. Maybe using a HOB type refugium with clear glass or acrylic inside the tank instead hanging on the back of the tank? That way you would have flow and custom lighting over it for the corals. I guess that would be the same is your idea with an acrylic or glass walled off area in the back. Just copy the water flow and lighting concept of an HOB to go along with it.
  12. Wow! Great idea! However, I am sure it will have a lot of challenges to figure out flow, lighting, maintenance, etc. I think one of your biggest maintenance issues will be keeping the partition (glass and acrylic) clean since algae will definitely grow on it with the lighting you will need for the corals. You have most likely already have done this...looking to see if anyone else has built a tank like this.
  13. So just spit balling here but looking for everyone’s opinions, advice and input. I have been thinking about reducing my number of tanks down to 1, plus my qt systems of course. I love my butterflies and angels, you know, the ones that would eat my corals, so I have to keep them. I have been brain storming about a tank within a tank. Don’t know how exactly this would look. Or how much it would cost. Tank is 84” x 30” x 25” Option 1 - maybe something down the middle of the tank , somehow hanging from the center braces. Would the center braces be able to handle the weight? Would probably have to be acrylic so is lighter in weight Would i need slits on all sides for flow? This might be a nightmare for keeping all the slots, hole clean. Would I also need a power head inside this tank? I’m thinking this acrylic tank would be 72” x 8” or 10” wide and deep. Option 2 - something across the back wall of the tank. This could be acrylic or glass and siliconed in place. This would probably have to be 2, one on each side of the overflow. I think if it’s glass, only way to get flow would have to be ph in each one. Would it get enough light on the back wall? Would be same size as above one. Would be very hard for me to reach to clean the glass. (I’m only 5’ tall) Was thinking either one would be just slightly under the water level so fish can’t get in and still allow for some water flow. Ideas, thoughts and opinions. Is this doable and still look good? Any issues or problems I’m not thinking of?
  14. Looking forward to talking some more at the next meeting at Petes folly!
