I have made this frag tank if you would like to see it step by step Please refer to the http://indmas.org/ma...4099#entry64099

My question is how to set up the flow to be sure i am not over doing it or under doing it.
I put a koralia 3 under the egg crate the egg crate I put JUST above the power head and it is cut to fit the entire tank. Above the egg crate just below water surface is the return doing 387 gph.Tank is 25"x12" i made up a picture of what i am trying to explain I am wondering if on this tank its Over kill or not enough or if i could run in to dead spots? Thanks all for the help in advanced.

Check the flow your self by putting stuff in it....preferably corals.....

Seriously though.....you will lose a lot of the flow as it gets misdirected by all the egg crate. You will probably find that you are ok although the K3 is a pretty big unit for that tank.

I would also consider moving the K3 above the egg crate. It will be a PITA to get to once you have that egg crate loaded up with frags. Consider moving it up on the glass, and then just angle it downward.

Not sure on intentions but would guess the K3 was put under the egg crate to leave under there to just keep any debri from collecting. As Scott mentioned earlier, the egg crate will greatly reduce the flow. I'm considering picking up a couple Koralias to throw under the egg crate on my frag tank too just so nothing gets stirred up. If I turn up both my MP40s I could get the flow under the egg crate but think some of my non-stoney corals would not be happy!

Buy now and ask for forgiveness later.
