  1. I like firefish also. Any fish that are out in the open is a good idea!
  2. I dont have many aipstaisia in my 220 gal glass main display. Mostly they are in my basement frag tank. Its a 40g long glass tank 12" deep. So ill be able to shoot from above with it easier than though the glass. Ill let everyone know and post a video when it comes in this weekend.
  3. I'll let you all know how it works. Shipped yesterday from china.
  4. Im lookiing at buying a laser pointer to kill Aiptasia. Will a 1w green one do? Ebay has one for 90 dollars and its cheaper than getting alot more peppermint shrimp. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-W-High-Power-Military-Green-Beam-Light-Laser-Pointer-Pen-Battery-Charger-BOX-/201468001038?hash=item2ee86dbb0e:g:IpkAAOSwLzdWSZdW
  5. Sorry for my absence from the club lately. Summer came and went, work happens and my wife and I are expecting our first child on March 3rd. So its been a busy few months to say the least! I wanted to bring up a few ideas I had at last years frag swap (hopefully with enough time to implement a few of them) 1. Club offered Dipping station. It would give the local community a real time demonstration about how easy it is to dip your own coral and possibly even have a few "pests" on display to show people. Hopefully not ones we would find in frags, but its always a real possibility. 2. Colored Dots on locals frag tanks to tell how "Hard" "Med" or "Easy" it is to keep corals. It would be as simple as posting Green, Yellow, and Red stickers on tanks. Then Have 4 or 5 Bigger bulletin boards around explaining what the stickers mean. I cant tell you how many people came up to me asking how hard it was to keep sps, zoas, frogspawns, or even mushrooms. They didn't have a clue what coral their tanks or lighting could handle. People are generally shy at the swaps and this would help them to understand what they are looking at and what they can buy! 3. Raffle Tickets for people who donated corals to the "new members" fund. Last year we got tickets for the left over corals that were not used. A few of us thought raffle tickets for the raffle items might be a better idea. We could even have a maximum of 2 per member, but this might get a better variety of corals to give to new members rather than 10 of the same corals from the same member. Just a few of my suggestions. Do what you want with them, but im looking forward to the winter when i work on my tank again!!! Ross

    Where to go

Last year for my honeymoon we went to Bali Indonesia. By far the best diving and snorkeling Ive ever seen. The 23 hour flight sucks though. The only place in the Caribbean that can hold up to Bali has been Roatan Honduras. Roatan is SWEET. Max depths of 20-50ft in most areas and just 50 ft off the shore the reef starts. No boats needed and snorkeling is just as good as diving!!! look up http://www.infinitybay.com/index.html Ill go back here before I ever go back to Turks, Mexico (cozumel), Caymen or Aruba. btw, I barely saw 10 people on the beach when the cruise boats were gone (came for 2 mornings all week til noon). no kids at all!!! Ive had 3 friends do a honeymoon there and everyone has gone back.
  7. From my limited saltwater fishing background, puncturing the swim bladder is done often. My dad and I caught a nice 28" grouper this winter at about 100ft. It was brought up so fast that the bladder was over inflated. Grouper are not in season so to release it back we had to puncture it just below the dorcil fin. You could hear a hissing sound as it was punctured. Ironically my dad caught the fish 2 more time this winter and it had the scar to prove it. Maybe look it up on a fishing website?
  8. I have 2 automatic feeders that each feed 3x a day pellets. Its just enough to keep everything alive day to day. I try to feed Mysis Shrimp, rods reef, or another frozen food a few times a week. Also some nori for the tangs.
  9. Sorry to hear this happened. Ive traded, bought, and sold with Brendan over the past few years and he has always been very honest!!! I dont think he would ever try to scam anyone in INDMAS. Chalk it up as a lesson learned!
  10. I still am happy with my purchase of these lights. While they are not top of the line, they definitely are worth the money. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. New Anemone Rock in the Anemone Grow out tank
  12. The tank is really filling up now after the Worc and Indmas swap. Im going to finally get the Calcium reactor working in the next few days, but i think my ph controllers screen is broken :mad2: Also i bought 8 new Zoanthid frags for my tank. My Emperor Angel ate 3 of them. So no more Zoanthids for me. SPS all the way!!! 13. Doesnt include the 12 best frags that I have already mounted!
  14. Ive got 3 Maxijets that are taking a vinegar bath tonight. Ill try it first before i buy another one. Thanks Lloyd!
  15. My tunze osmolator 3155s pump is not keeping up with my tanks evaporation rate so I need a new pump. I know alot of pumps are not made to turn off and on multiple times during a day, so im looking for suggestions. Ive already tried a Toms aqua lifter but its no better than the stock pump i had been using. I think i need a pump that has a 1/2 inch tube. I have a Maxijet that i thought about trying, Im not sure how stable they are when i turn it on and off. Now im looking at a Eheim 1000 compact water pump buy ive never had a Eheim. Suggestions?
  16. Your tank is really looking nice!!! That RBTA is HUGE!!!!
  17. It looks like I might have room for 1 more for the Worc Frag swap in Dayton. I meet at the New Castle exit on 70. It doesn't save you a ton of time, but i thought i would throw it out. Im gonna get there early and not spend a ton of time, get in and get out. Lemme know Ross
  18. Very nice tank! Always wanted to start a seahorse tank of this size!
  19. First off Welcome to INDMAS!!! The 75 gallon is a perfect setup for someone starting off. Your choice of lighting is on the higher end of pricing. Both are very nice lights but i dont have experiance with either. We had someone else just ask about lighting last week here: http://indmas.org/main/index.php/topic/14195-led-lighting/ As for heating, alot of people use a EHEIM Jager Aquarium Thermostat Heater. I always say 2 are better than one just incase 1 fails, then you have a backup. The overflow: You might check into if the sides are tempered on the 75g. Most tanks have a tempered bottom, but not sides. If this is the case, drilling a tank is usually better longterm. Ive never had a HOB overflow.
  20. A testing station in general would be cool. Testing the basic parameters wouldnt be so hard.
  21. Thats a great idea! Even if nothing happens this year. It was a hairbrain idea that i had. thought i would throw it out.
