  1. Probably not enough space for 2 elements in the DE. It's pretty tight in a SE.
  2. While this new bulb I won is pretty sweet I'm a little embarassed to say I can't even use it. I saw 250w and tossed some tickets in the bucket. Anyways, what I am in desperate need of is a DE 250w bulb. I haven't gotten my membership access to sell forums but if anyone has interest in the bulb I won yesterday I'd be happy to trade or sell it for a new 14k phoenix bulb.
  3. I may try the urchin route. I already limit my light greatly since I don't have any live coral left. Just 2 clownfish at the moment. I give em about 8-10 hours light every other or 3rd day. Going to try to beef up the water changes and I'll try to steer away from IO in the future. I'm just afraid a year's worth of neglect is what I'm cleaning up. Thanks for the welcome back Hooked, look forward to seeing you again at the swap this year.
  4. ANyone with phos reactor I can borrow for a bit? or buy possibly? Other phos removers other than reactor? Was thinking about kole tang or foxface?
  5. Looks like i'm going to look for a LM blenny and another bottle of joe's. Just going to have to roll up the sleves and be prepared for a bunch of work on those mejano's.
  6. Well, I feel like a noob all over again. Been out of the hobby for quite some time but still keeping a 30g cube cause I can't bear to shut the book altogether. I don't obsess over it like I used to, just enjoy a nice reef view and my long time buddy clowns. Anyways, need a little advice on some things I've long forgotten about. #1 Hair algae. I know, manual removal. This is my current method of removal but the rock types don't allow me to get at a lot of it. I'd like a natural cleaner. iirc, kole tangs can be hair algae eaters. Of course I'd have to get it small and be willing to part with it after the algae is cleaned up. Bali sea hare is another alternative i've considered. I've done them twice in the past, both times the hare dies shortly after cleanup since getting to them is rough in a rockscaped tank. My old, larget tank could handle the toxic effects of the death but water volume is much smaller now and I'm afraid it could set off a negative reaction. Am I missing anything here? Other options? #2 Darned anemones. mejanos. Does anything short of a baster full of kalk take them out? They multipy like crazy and my rock is so porus they just shrink back into the rock when I start with the kalk assassinations. Anyways, good to be posting again after a long time away. Hope everyone is well.
  7. Will do Glove. Thanks I plan to be more picky when selecting specimens for my 30g. Less room and I'm not in a hurry just to fill it up.
  8. I'm almost ashamed to say that I've lost many of my prize specimens from my days as a zoa collector. Many were gone before the move and even more died as a result of the move. My 30g is back and looking good. I'm not going to try and overdo it with mixing specimens so zoas/shrooms/softies is all I'm doing for now. So who around here has the pretty zoas for fragging? I need to know who to suck up to.
  9. Sounds like I shouldn't try to exchange that belt I got last Christmas from Marshalls. My wife obviously thinks I'm skinnier than I really am and I've never bothered to take it back but it still has the tags on it lol.
  10. Picking/setting up 30g cube this week and I think it's going to get a 250w DE pendant. Russ and I have discussed briefly and is seems the aquamedic setup at $279 is a front runner but I'm willing to consider others. Style is important but so is functionality and quality. I already have ballasts if that is a concern. I just haven't kept up in the lighting information these days. The tank is 20" wide so I would also consider hoods in that size.
  11. Jeremy, searching back through old posts to get your pics of that pendant hangar and remembered this post. How's that 58 doing?
  12. Well, been neglectful of my tank and didn't realize my DI resin had finally expired. By the time I changed it the hair algae has already taken hold. I think my cleanup crew is about gone since things have been so good for so long. What would best choice be for hair algae removal from rocks (besides sea monster or manual removal? Urchin? Turbos? Been so long since I've had a problem such as this I've forgotten how to address it.
  13. I had planned to make this months meeting but will not be able to do so now. Maybe next month.
