  4. I want to say thank you to everyone for coming out the swap this past weekend. I also want to thank all of the hobbyist and vendors. We had a great attendance for the new venue. And a big thank you to all the volunteers and staff who helped to pull this together on setup, during the event, and tear down. We have lots of new members and lots of renewals. We hope that everyone will continue to stick around and I really hope to get the forums going again.

  9. We are excited to host. My mom is making it covid safe. We will be setup for the swap and food on the patio. All the food is individually wrapped and drinks in coolers outside. We will have beer, pop and water. The food is subs, chips and cookies. My tank is doing so so right now so I'd always love suggestions. My mom said masks on in the house. We have a lot of tables and chairs for outside. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

  10. So Jenn and I have been absent for a while now...and some of you may already know now that we are expecting our first child mid September. We are both very excited. We (I lol) have been working tirelessly on projects around the house the last few months to prepare for our baby boy. Here is one of them that we are proud of. My aunt is an artist and is helping us with a coral reef mural on one wall of the nursery. We are nowhere near done yet but here is a sneak peak of what we wrapped up today....

  11. I got an adult Interruptus angle almost 2 years ago and have been on the look out for a juvenile to pair it with. In February I was finally able to get my hands on a juvenile. After quarantine and observation tank for a while I put her in acclimation box in DT for 2 days. Just released her today. Minor chasing for the first couple of hours as seen in the video, and now they are good! No more chasing or posturing. I really am surprise and happy on how well the introduce went. (sorry for the reflections on the glass and all the micro bubbles in tank) https://youtu.be/ykhJowdcLh8 https://youtu.be/fMlf_42tTEM

  12. Hi everyone, hope the reefing has been well these days, I miss it! I just wanted to recognise the fact you all have Sanjay speaking at the swap this year. For anyone that doesn't know this, he is like the Bill Gates of lighting in the reefing world. I will 100% be at this event and everyone should attend this. I just wanted to tell indmas staff that they did an excellent job! I'm pumped! Thanks, Luke

  13. Update on these guys. All is well and they have doubled in size! Found a few more shortly after my first post. A week ago had a couple die do to some kind of slime/bacteria that was covering the two anemone. I think it was caused by some leftover food. With a new total of 20 babies! I hope to not have anymore loses.

  21. Figured out what the nitrate spike was... It was user error. My nitrates were actually 1.9ppm. Make sure you clean the Hanna checker bottles super well. It can leave nitrite in it and throw off your tests. Also thank you @MrsBugmaster. I hope other start updating their threads and maybe we can get this web alive again!

  29. Thought I share a recent full tank shoot here. Making progress to fill the tank..... Over the recent months I battled Dino’s, GHA, and a mild cyano break out, but feel I’m on the right track. Any tips for taking good FTS, beside getting rid of the reflections....

  36. Hey Guys! I just wanted to take a second and introduce myself! My Name is Kyle Delello and I have been in the Hobby for a couple years. I run a Red Sea 750XXL and I am a major fish nerd. I have some soft coral and LPS, but my tank is dedicated to the fish! I don't have a good excuse as to why it took me so long to join here, other than I spend tons of time on Reef2Reef as I am a moderator there. 3fordfamily is a very good friend of mine, I HOPE THAT DOESNT COUNT AGAINST ME I also have 6 QT's in my basement as I am a major fish disease nerd and I am constantly trying new methods for treatment for the betterment of our hobby. Look forward to meeting some local hobbyists!!!

  37. Tank has been on autopilot since the softball season has started. Having a little bit of coral warfare going on with the candy canes and euphyllia, but I knew that was going to eventually happen. Overall good growth and the ricordea I purchased from Luis has split twice since I picked it up from him. I'm still eyeballing an upgrade to a lagoon tank, but right now I love this little tank. Cannot see me ever going larger than 25 gallons to be honest. Love the ease and simplicity of its little footprint.

  42. It depends. For ones where you see a progression of the amount of white let's say then yes that's typically the way. But a lot of these designers are by mixing various strains or even species. For example, the long fins were a naturally occurring 1 in a million fish that they then mated with another fish for production, maybe a sibling but maybe not. The point being it wasn't a line bred situation that I typically refer to as a "strain". This convo has sparked my interest. I am going to ask some people about it to see what they say. I will let you know.

  43. So I know how inexpensive plugs are, but I still wanted to give it a whirl. I’m totally a DIY guy so why not plugs. Saves me a few buck and can possibly make some too. Started out by making the mold. First I cut a 3”x10”x2” thick block of delrin plastic work was about to trash into 4 strips. Next I bolted them back together with 6 long bolts. Then I drilled a 3/8” holes in a staggered pattern 1-1/4” deep. This will be the stems of the plugs. Once all the 3/8” holes were drilled I used a 7/8” drill bit to make the crowns. I drilled down 1/4” in depth. Next step was the recipe. I have some old clean sand in a bucket in the garage, and I managed to get some Portland cement from the bricklayers at work. I went with a ratio of 3 to 1. 3/4 cup of sand and 1/4 cup of Portland cement was enough for the mold and a few flat disc. I mixed all the ingredients in a empty calcium supplement container that I cut the top 1/4 off. I added enough water to create a syrupy consistency. This will allow any air bubbles to rise out of the mix. Now comes the fun part. I started scooping the mix into every plug hole in the mold. Once they were all filled I smoothed the surface and started to shake and tap on the mold to work out any trapped air bubbles and settle the mix in in every plug hole. Followed by a top off of mix to any low spots. Dry time is two days. And Shazam! Unbolt the mold pry the strips apart with a flat screwdriver, a few taps hear and there and a wiggle of the plugs and walla. Let me know if you wanna try for yourself. I’ll be happy to give any advice about the process.

  44. Thank you for hosting Bill. Your aquarium and system are terrific! What a great time seeing everyone, and there was enough food for twice the crowd. Joining Indmas just a few short years ago was one of my better moves, not only for all the collective knowledge, but to meet such a great group of people. I wish all of you a safe, relaxing, and Merry Christmas!

  46. Hello Indy! I'm looking forward to coming out next weekend to speak. For anyone that's looking to get some SPS frags PM me your email and I can email a list with photos with what I have. Unfortunately I was a recent victim as all other Photobucket users were and can no longer show my photobucket photos online. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Thanks in advance. Copps
