ryansweet
After my many years in this hobby I am finally getting a piece of equipment that I’ve never had. A calcium reactor. I know the basics of how they work and I’ve seen the media the stores sell. What I’m wondering is if I could use old coral skeletons that have died and I’ve (for some strange reason) kept around in a box. Isn’t that what the media actually is? tanknovice
Ryan I have been investigating using a calcium reactor and different media. I think you would be ok using some of the skeletons as long as you soak and rinse them in rodi. Do not use shells as they can leach phosphate. I would not use strictly your skeleton collection from what I am reading I would use a coarse media with magnesium.
