  1. You'll want to dose it all at once. Peroxide has a very short life span in the tank (6-8 hrs I believe) so if you spread it out with a doser you will not get the full punch impact. I was scared to try it at first and thought maybe I would ease into it and did a few ml here and there and nothing happens. If you do it all at once in high flow area at the recommended amount you'll notice an almost immediate 1-2 day impact. To help the impact of peroxide and the fight against cyano you can also reduce your light schedule, run blues only or wrap your tank if it gets a ton natural daylight or any combo you feel comfortable doing. I wrapped my tank and ran blues only for a few days while dosing peroxide and my water was clearer than it had ever been and the sand was as white as brand new when I unwrapped my tank. Message me if you want to talk before you try the dosing as it's hard to convey everything through text. Best of luck. Jeff
  2. I started with 1ml per 10 gallons 1x per day. So I have 450 gallons total water volume which meant I put 45ml SLOWLY into my sump in high flow over the course of 2-3 minutes. I reduced my white lighting schedule on my lights and ran more heavy blues during the treatment time (again I was battling dinos which love light so this may not apply as much to you). I did not perform any water changes during treatment. You'll notice a HUGE drop in your ORP measuring when you start dosing peroxide. Don't be alarmed as it will slowly recover within 8-10 hours to the normal amount. I ended up working up to a 2x a day dosing schedule every 12 hours at 1ml per 10gal. So for my instance, 90ml of peroxide spread split out to (2) 45ml doses every 12 hours. This along with a lot of other factors is what finally kicked the dinos for me. If you just have cyano you may be able to get by with a 1x per day dosing schedule and see how that does for you. If it does not kick it at least you know dosing 2x a day can be done as a last resort. Happy to provide more info as it was an awful battle but thankfully was able to overcome dinos, cyano and spirulina.
  3. Here is a tip from Todd that worked for me to find out whether I had cyano or spirulina (both types of bacteria but two different kinds of treatment). Take 2 cups of tank water out of your tank along with a portion of the "red mat" from the tank and add 1ml of 3% peroxide. If you have cyano over the course of an hour or two the cups of water will turn a pinkish color. If no color change then you have spirulina. If pinkish color then cyano. Cyano = 3% peroxide treatment Spirulina = chemi clean treatment If you have spirulina (which I did) the peroxide treatment won't touch it. I've had both cyano and spirulina and this is the best way to find out what you have. I've also had a nasty 9 month case of dinos and finally got that out of the tank. I dosed peroxide in the tank (heavy sps/lps/softy stocked) for roughly 5 months with no loses so it is safe as long as you don't overdue it.
  4. There are lots of numbers out there on how much some are willing to use with Bayer but I take a little more conservative approach and 4mL per cup or 2.1oz per gallon (depending on how many frags to dip at once) has worked great for me with no losses.
  5. I've switched from using Coral RX to Bayer and it really seems to be less stress on the corals and wallet. I mix roughly 2.1oz of Bayer per gallon of salt water I dip and that seems to work just fine with polyp extension a 5-10 minutes after the corals get out of the dip and into the tank.
  6. How about acans? What range seems to work best for you. Had some Kessil 360we's on one tank getting roughly 75-125par and the acan colors were really good. Switched to 4 bulb ati t5 and now get roughly 200-250 par and the colors look like they have lost their pop. Too much light?
  7. Very nice to read. I have a MQ-200 and have played around with it a little but never really got a handle for what the output numbers were telling me other than seeing the range move up or down depending on placement under the Radions. Are your ranges you give LED output ranges or T5/MH? Reason I ask is I thought LEDs have a conversion you have to do based upon their output compared to T5/MH. - Jeff
  8. nice write up. curious what led strips you use for supplement to your t5s.
  9. I've had one for two years in my tank and never had any issues with SPS, LPS or softies. Mostly just picks at algae on the glass or rocks and hides the rest of the day.
  10. I started using the BRS 2 part dosers for CA and Alk and it works great for me. It was a slow dance dialing them in for how much I needed but now that they are set and super easy to maintain. Have them both set on timers to come on once a day for a period of time and my CA and Alk have been steady where I want them. Not sure of other options out there but given the cost, this one works great for me. If you are not in a rush I'd wait for them to go on sale on BRS as I got them around the Thanksgiving sale and they were a steal of a deal.
  11. Let's see if this uploads from tapatalk. These are a few I got. Still working on getting a good pic of the acros. Anyone want to help me ID the zoas
  12. First time attending so looking forward to making the drive up that way.
  13. I could use some help with redesigning my sump to deal with some high nitrates and phosphates and was wondering if anyone was close in my area.
