Luke33
Anyone keeping these in their sump? How are they growing and do you think they are absorbing phos and trates? What do you think compared to macro? I think I'm going to give some a try
ryansweet
I have 4 in my sump. They have been there for over 2 yrs now. I can't say that they do any better than macro (I have chaeto, red gracilaria, and flame algae in there too) with nutrient export, but I do notice pods congregating around the roots. Snails love that area too. I would think they help nutrient export and provide a natural place for micro fauna, so I can't see a negative side to them. Luke33
Ryan, do you know what kind you have, red? I think I'm going to add 20 into my sump. What kind of light are you using on them?
ryansweet
Yes, I have the red mangroves from reefcleaners. I just have an led bulb from Lowe's or Home Depot (can't remember which) that is in a shop light. They would probably grow faster with proper lighting but it works for what I have.
